Area Agency on Aging - Website
AAA is dedicated to preserving the health, honor, and dignity of older citizens. The Vallejo Drop-In Center is located at the Marina Tower Annex at 575 Sacramento Street. Call (707) 643-1798 for more information.
Services include: Caregiver referral and respite' registry, income tax preparation assistance, family caregiver support, Info-Van, outreach and home visits, information and assistance, money management, and homeowner and renter's assistance.

Disabled and Senior over age 65 years is $9.00 for $24.00 worth of Bart fares.

City of Vallejo - Website

City of Vallejo Taxicab Scrip Program - Website
Residents of Vallejo who are 65 years of age or older, or who have a disability may purchase scrip booklets from City of Vallejo (Nater Billing Department, 555 Santa Clara Street), or at the Florence Douglas Senior Center (333 Amador Street). Each booklet contains $10 worth of scrip. Eligible users purchase scrip for $6 per booklet, limited to 20 books per eligible person per month.

Low-Income Food Assistance Program
Federal government commodities and other food items are distributed every month to individuals and families. Each household is allowed to receive only one bag per month. In order to receive the commodity portion of the bag, recipients must meet federal income guidelines, i.e., maximum monthly income of $1,164 (one person in household), or $1,561 (two persons in household). Three drop-in locations available in Vallejo (call for distribution schedule). The Dream Center, (707) 643-6479, The Salvation Army, (707) 643-8621, and Good Samaritan Church, (707) 648-9461.

STARS Center (Activity Center for Adults with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia)
Respite program for caregivers of those suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Participants should be diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia, or be experiencing problems with impaired memory. Offers social interaction and companionship, healthy morning snack, nutritious hot lunch, physical fitness, fine and applied arts, socialization skills, leisure time skills, etc. Program available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm $15 donation requested. Vallejo Runabout (Transportation for Persons with Disabilities) - Website
Provides dial-a-ride transportation to eligible disabled people of all ages in the Vallejo area. Operates Monday - Friday, 4:30 am - 10:45 pm and Saturday, 6:00 am 10:45 pm Service not available on Sundays or major holidays. Fare is $2.50 each way within Vallejo and Benicia area, and $3.50 each way for trips outside Vallejo area. Telephone (707) 649-1999 for application.
